Installing Atlas VPN on Windows

This guide will show you how to install the Atlas VPN application on your Windows device. With this app, you can secure your internet traffic and bypass various geo-restrictions online. Let's dive in!

 

Note: the Atlas VPN application is only available on 64-bit Windows 10 or newer. Older versions of Windows are not supported.

Downloading and installing Atlas VPN

  1. To begin your journey with Atlas VPN, head to this page and click on Download free. This button will start to download the Windows installation package.

  2. Once the download is complete, locate the installation package in your Downloads folder and double-click on it.



  3. Installing Atlas VPN is automatic, and once it's done the application will be launched. 

 


Logging in

Note: The registration process is the same as logging in if you do not have an account.

  1. You can log into your account by launching the application and clicking Existing user? Log in.



  2. Enter your email address and click Log in.
     

     
  3. You will receive a verification email with a button Confirm sign-in that you will have to click to complete the Sign-in process.  
      

       
  4. As soon as you press the button, you will be redirected to a new page asking you to allow the Atlas VPN application to open. By checking the Allow box and clicking Okay on the app, you will automatically be logged into your account.  
     

     

By logging into an account with a premium subscription, you will gain access to all the server locations we offer. Check out our pricing page and choose the deal that suits you best!

 


Connecting

  1. There are two ways to connect to a VPN server: 

    • Clicking the Quick Connect button. This will connect you to your preferred server or a suitable server, which will be selected based on a few criteria, such as the distance to the server and the server load.

    • Clicking on a specific country in the list of servers. This will connect you to a server within the chosen area. 
       

       
  2. Once connected, you will see the connection duration under the Quick Connect button. The server you have connected to will be shown at the top under Current connection.
      

      
  3. To disconnect from a server, click the Quick Connect button once more.
      

 

 

App settings overview 

Once you access the Settings menu and click on the Account tab, you will find the User ID, the option to Sign out, and information about your current plan. 
 

 

In the Settings tab, Security menu, you will be able to locate these options:

    • Start on launch - once enabled, the Atlas VPN application will automatically start as soon as you turn on your Windows device.

    • Kill Switch - this feature will disable the internet connection on your device if the VPN connection is unexpectedly interrupted. This ensures that no unsecured browsing can occur until the connection to a VPN server is restored.

    • Allow Push Notifications - if enabled, this feature will inform you regarding your connectivity status as well as other information relevant to you.

 

 

In the Protocol section, you will find our connection protocol options: 

    • Auto option will pick the fastest and most secure protocol for your network.
       
    • WireGuard® connection protocol provides you with incredible speeds.
       
    • IKEv2 protocol encrypts your data with the highest level of security.

Continuing in the settings, you will see the App settings section. In there you will find these options:

    • App language - changes the language of the Atlas VPN application.
       
    • App appearance - lets you set the theme of the application.
       
    • Analytics - gathers basic information about the app for our developers such as errors and crash reports. No information is gathered outside the application following our strict no-logs policy.

    • Close to tray - once this feature is enabled, closing the application minimizes it to your system tray menu.

    • Version number - helps you check if your app is up to date.
       

    
In the Connectivity tab of the Settings menu, you will find the Quick Connect and Auto-Connect features:

    • Quick Connect - use this feature to choose the location you will be connected to after clicking on the Quick-Connect button.

    • Auto-Connect - with the feature enabled, VPN is automatically connected to the last location of your session after the app is launched.
       


 

On the left-hand side of the application, you will also be able to find the Assistant tab, where you can enable SafeBrowseData Breach Monitor, and Protect my devices.
 


 

SafeBrowse - provides an extra layer of privacy while surfing the web. It protects you from phishing, spyware, ransomware, cryptojacking, and prevents you from accessing malicious websites while browsing online. 

  

 

Breach Scanner - a security feature designed to find any data breaches related to your online accounts. It automatically scans leaked databases and informs you of any past or recent breaches where your personal information was exposed.
  

  

Protect my devices - helps to access the Atlas VPN app on different devices. After clicking on Send me a link, you will get an email containing download links for all available platforms.
