Note: the registration process is the same as logging in if you do not have an account. Simply click Get started on the bottom of the application window and continue following the instructions.

Connecting

  1. There are two ways to connect to a VPN server:

      • By clicking the Quick Connect button you will automatically be connected to a suitable server, that will be selected based on a few criteria, such as the distance to the server and the server load.

      • By clicking on a specific country in the list of servers you will connect you to a server within the chosen area.

    1. After you connect to a VPN server, the connection status in your application will be changed to protected. When establishing a connection for the first time, you will be asked to authenticate this with your keychain password (the password that is set on your macOS device). This is needed so that the Atlas VPN app could create and manage a VPN tunnel.

Here is a quick rundown of the options:

  • Start on Launch - once enabled, the Atlas VPN application will automatically start once you sign in to your macOS device.

  • Kill switch - this feature will disable the internet connection on your device if the VPN connection is unexpectedly interrupted. This ensures that no unsecured browsing can occur until the connection to a VPN server is restored.

  • Analytics - gathers basic app information such as errors and crash reports for our developers. No information is gathered outside the application in accordance with our strict no-logs policy.

  • Safebrowse Plus - blocks ads and prevents you from accessing malicious websites while browsing online. Check out this article to learn more about the Safebrowse Plus feature.

  • Protocol - determines the establishment of the encryption and the way data is transferred between your device and the VPN gateway. You can find more information about the connection protocols here.
