Slow internet speed on Windows

If after testing your connection speed you have determined that the difference is too big for you and imposes on your normal internet usage, you may use these steps to troubleshoot the issue for your Windows device:

  1. Restart your device.

  2. Try different VPN servers. The closer the server is to your location physically, the better the speed.

  3. Try switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection or vice versa to see which one works better.

  4. Try disabling the firewall of your device and testing the connection speed, to see if there might be any unnecessary restrictions set up. You can follow the steps on how to do that here.

  5. Try changing the connection protocol in your VPN application:

    On the Atlas VPN application click Settings, navigate to the Protocols tab, and choose IPSec/IKEv2 or WireGuard®.
